The performance I choose was the performance of "Amen" live by Shaboozey and Jelly Role. I choose this performance because it blends modern country with powerful spiritual themes like redemption and mercy. The use of a choir and emotional lyrics made it feel more like a prayer than just a song. It shows how today’s artists still draw from gospel and sacred traditions to connect with audiences on a deeper level. It uses a mixture of call and response mixed with original gospel choir with backup singers artily clapping and creating the beat. I think the live performance of Amen connects directly to the spiritual and gospel music we've studied by using themes of faith, prayer,—core elements of sacred music. Like Kanye West’s Ultralight Beam, it blends sacred traditions with modern secular genres, showing how spiritual music continues to influence and inspire artists across different styles today.
