Corrigan #6

 The most important takeaway I've had so far this semester has been learning about sprituals. I have taken music classes my whole life, and have never learned about sprituals. So, it has been really exciting and cool to learn about different kinds of sprituals. Such as call and response, and syncopated. I now try to notice those kinds of qualities in other music. Music nowadays is quite different; I feel like there isn't as much creativity behind songs. I also think that music has lost the sense of community it once brought into people's lives. As seen in spirituals, the sense of community is usually easy to feel within the song. It is hard to find music that gives you that same feeling. I am happy I took this class, so I was able to learn about this genre of music and the history behind it.
