Simonelli Prompt #11: Soul Performance

One of my favorite soul songs of all time is "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding. I have been listening to this song on a regular basis ever since my dance teacher choreographed to the original song when I was in high school. Because of the impact this song has had on me, I decided to select a performance of it that features many popular artists as well as descendants of Otis Redding. This performance was published on YouTube by the channel Playing for Change to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this song. I feel like it perfectly captures both what soul was like when singers like Otis Redding were around and also the significant impact that soul has had on the music industry as a whole ever since. I love the energy of each performer and the innovative way they compile the voices of so many artists when performing such an important song to the history of soul!
