I came into this class knowing nothing about gospel, I assumed that it was simply just religious song but I didn't know there was so much to it, not only in song but also in the general background of it. I think my biggest takeaway is the history of it. I am so glad I know where it came from and exactly how it started. My favorite performance would have to be the 12 Years a Slave video we watched. I think that the progressive emotions from the main character just show his realization and acceptance so well.
