The song I chose is "Ezekiel Saw the Wheel." The background of the song comes from the Bible's book of Ezekiel. It tells the story of the prophet Ezekiel's vision of God's chariot. This song held a profound spiritual significance for slaves. The heavenly chariot described would take them to their freedom. It was a symbol of hope. I chose this song after listening to Louis Armstrong's performance. Louis Armstrong's musical career had a large impact, breaking barriers for the black community, so I felt his cover of the song would be a great fit.
