St. John- Prompt #2: Community & Solidarity

 Hello everybody!

One song that I feel has community and solidarity built into is, Were you there when they crucified my lord. I chose this specific recording because I love this choir’s version. However, the song itself symbolizes community and solidarity to me. I have a couple personal experiences with this song. The first time I heard this song was here at Saint Mike’s. We performed it during Lent in the liturgical ensemble. Then when I went home for Easter break when I attended Church on Good Friday. In both of these experiences I felt a sense of community and solidarity. Especially at the Good Friday service. It was towards the end and that’s a very solemn service. However, when I was in that church I felt a sense of community and everyone was singing together. So this song is very special to me and every time I see a performance of it, it reminds me of that sense of community and solidarity.
