My biggest light bulb moment in this class was realizing how deep spirituals actually are. I used to think they were just old church songs, but learning about groups like the Fisk Jubilee Singers made me see how powerful they really were. These songs came from people who went through so much but still found hope and faith through music. It’s wild how something created during slavery ended up shaping so much of the music we listen to today. That really hit me.
